Safeguarding the Human Experience Through Technology: HS4A Returns to CES 2024

The Human Security for All (HS4A) campaign will return to CES 2024 in Las Vegas in January — the world’s largest technology event, with more than 120,000 tech leaders from around the world.
The Consumer Technology Association (CTA), the producer of the Consumer Technology Show (CES), is a proud partner with HS4A in a first-of-its-kind partnership and has adopted the theme of human security for the second year running.
How Can This Partnership and Initiative Enhance Humankind?
Technology enables positive change that can reach all humanity. First introduced by the U.N. in 1994, the concept of human security recognizes the importance of personal wellbeing and identifies security pillars tied to an individual’s experience in life. To promote these human security tenets, the show will highlight — as a CES first — the latest tech innovations and thought leaders dedicated to solving the most serious threats facing humankind.
The world’s technology leaders will converge in Las Vegas from 8-12 January 2024 to join the best and the brightest in the industry, to share the latest advancements across the technology ecosystem. HS4A will host two “Great Minds” sessions at CES2024:
The first session, titled: “What Are the Technology Needs of the Developing World?” will be discussed by a panel that includes Achim Steiner, Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme; Usha Rao-Monari, UN Under Secretary-General and UNDP Administrator, and Stedman Graham, Business Advisor, and Chairman and CEO of S. Graham and Associates.
The second session, titled: “How to Think Like an Innovator and Change the World,” will feature Amandeep Singh Gill, UN Secretary General’s Envoy; on Technology, Megan Lee, Chairwoman and CEO of the Panasonic Corporation of North America, Amanda Ellis, Former New Zealand Ambassador to the UN, and Garry Jacobs, President of the World Academy of Art and Science (WAAS).
The CES Research Summit will host a HS4A panel titled, “Technology and AI Building a Sustainable, Secure, Superior Future,” where this topic will be debated by Phoebe Koundhouri, Head of the European policy think tank Athena and advisor to the EU on green development; Glenn Gaffney, Former Under Secretary General and Director of Science and Technology for the Central Intelligence Agency; Usha Rao-Monari, Former Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations Development Programme, and Ketan Patel, Chair of Force for Good and CEO of Investment firm, Greater Pacific Capital.
CTA Announces Technology as New Human Security Pillar
This year, the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) announced technology as a new eighth pillar of the Human Security for All (HS4A) campaign. The announcement took place at an event on the United Nations Main Campus, co-hosted by CTA, the World Academy of Art and Science (WAAS), and the UN Trust Fund for Human Security during the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.
The Human Security For All (HS4A) is a global campaign led by the United Nations Trust Fund for Human Security and the World Academy of Art and Science in partnership with a broad constituent of entities and citizens like you. Our aim is to Promote human security among networks of people who play key roles in adopting new ideas and translating them into action – policymakers, youth leaders, private sector innovators and financiers as well as educators, scientists, artists and more.
